300,000 Outreach Program Meals Packaged at Broward County United Way Day of Caring

The 21st Annual Day of Caring for Broward County United Way of Florida was a smashing success as hundreds of volunteers gathered at the BB&T Center to package Outreach Program meals for the hungry.  150,000 of the meals were Outreach Program’s *Mac & Cheese, the other 150,000 were our *Rice and Bean Casserole. The meals will be distributed to local residents through UW of Broward County partner agencies.

David Esposito, UW of Broward County Special Event organizer, said, “The smiles on the more than 700 volunteers’ faces told the story of our experience with Outreach, Inc. for our annual Day of Caring event. We always say that there is power in numbers and our Day of Caring was a prime example. To have the opportunity to touch more than 300,000 lives through our meal packaging was incredibly rewarding for both United Way of Broward County staff and the dedicated volunteers.”

Bryan Coffey, Event Coordinator for The Outreach Program said, “The volunteers at this particular event were absolutely energized. The excitement and willingness to make an impact was abundant and their community will feel the waves and ripples from this event for a while!”
