Fall ’14 Tanzania Medical Mission Update

Outreach-Program-Medical-Mission-2014-10-23-18.02.50Dr. Deborah Ann Turner of Des Moines, led the recent Outreach Medical Mission to Tanzania. In the past ten years, Outreach has taken over 1,200 medical professionals and support staff to Singida, Tanzania for a short-term medical trip.

Outreach partners with personnel in the Singida Hospital to provide clinics and surgeries.  The equipment and supplies for two surgical suites have been sent to Singida Hospital by Outreach who receives that equipment in donations from hospitals in the U.S.

Several surgeries were performed and over 60 patients were seen at clinics.Outreach-Program-Medical-Mission-2014-10-23-15.19.49

Outreach takes two medical teams a year to Singida to provide medical care for that city as well as rural areas.  Outreach has a year round port-a-doc, a pickup outfitted like a veterinarian’s truck, that travels to rural areas with minor medical support.

The next Medical Mission trip is scheduled for Feb. 12-26, 2015.
