Summer Camps are Perfect for an Outreach Meal Packaging Event!

Are you looking for a new activity for energetic children at a summer camp ready to have fun and do something meaningful? Then we have an ideal solution for you: an Outreach meal packaging event!

Summer camps are full of energetic children ready to have fun and adult supervisors trying to schedule activities that are both enjoyable and productive. Research indicates there is a high level of interest in youth for opportunities to give back.

Here’s what a meal packaging can do for your summer camp program:

  • Provide campers with fun activity for all ages
  • All campers can do it regardless of athletic ability
  • Fosters fun competition between campers as one table tries to pack more meals than the other
  • Gives leaders an opportunity to educate campers
  • Hands-on learning experience that can be used as object lessons
  • Clean activity that is done inside
  • Can be staggered to do at different times during the week, or all at once
  • Used to help the less fortunate in the community where the camp is located
  • Can be integrated into the purpose of the camp’s mission
  • Raise awareness on hunger and poverty issues
  • Model philanthropy as you give campers a chance to give back
  • Create a caring environment amongst the campers

How it works:

What Outreach provides:

Picture1

  • The equipment needed to assemble the meals
  • Ingredients for the meals:
    • Mac & Cheese or
    • Pasta with Tomato Basil Sauce
  • Bags, boxes, labels
  • Training

What the camp provides:

  • Space (dining hall or gym is perfect)
  • 8’Tables (the quantity depends on the number of campers you want packaging)
  • Electricity
  • Campers to package (10-12 per station)
  • Funding – .25 cents a meal (many camps add an additional fee to camper’s registration fee to cover the cost)

Make this year’s summer camp experience the best it’s ever been for your staff, your campers and the hungry in the community. Happy campers will quickly report to their parents how much fun they had and how good they felt about packaging meals for the hungry.
