Waupun, WI FFA Hosts First Packaging Event

The Waupun FFA Chapter of Waupun, WI hosted their first Outreach, Inc. meal packaging event on Friday, March 20, and named it, “Waupun FFA – Outreach Program WI FFA Meal Packaging Event-1Feeding Our Neighbors!” They hosted this meal packaging event as part of their National FFA Ag Week programs. Approximately 150 faculty, students and staff packaged 20,000 Mac & Cheese meals to provide to several local food banks.FFA member Danielle Warmka said, “The meal packaging event that our FFA Chapter hosted was something most of the volunteers had never experienced before. They had no idea that the simplest of actions could impact so many people. When our volunteers and our school learned of how many meals we could make and how many people they could help, the meal packaging event was much more exciting and more people were willing to help. Knowing that we would be helping local families helped us to draw in volunteers as well.”Warmka continues, “Still further, by being only 17-years-old and coordinating this event on my own, it has shown other young adults in my school that they can make a difference, too. I was inspired to do this event by my trip to the Washington Leadership Conference put on by the National FFA Organization. Our motto that week was: ‘to do what we can, with what we have, where we are.’ I would like to believe that is what I did and I hope that others in my school will do the same in the future.”Outreach Program WI FFA Meal Packaging Event-2Outreach Event CoordinatorBryan Coffey said, “The team leaders (FFA Members) were very excited to be able to organize such an event to engage their fellow students. In fact, they were so excited about this program that they even invited FFA Alumni Members to join the fun! This really was an amazing experience for their students, school staff, and community members in general. Many of the food banks who will be distributing the meals even had representation at the event! Keep up the great work Waupun FFA!”
