The Outreach Program Receives Coveted 2021 Food Safety Certification from American Institute of Bakers (AIB), World’s Prominent Food Safety Certification Organization

“2021 Food Safety Inspection by AIB International”

UNION, IOWA – Outreach, Inc. is pleased to announce it has achieved certification from AIB International (American Institute of Bakers), one of the world’s foremost food safety certification organizations. The AIB certification represents the BEST practices for food handling and distribution in the industry.  Outreach has attained a vital audit ensuring the organization’s commitment to safe food production standards. “The process was a huge undertaking, but well worth the reward to supply those in need with healthy meals,” explained Katelyn Koppes, PCQI Coordinator. For more than 100 years, AIB International has partnered with our clients to bring the enjoyment of safe, high-quality food to consumers everywhere. Through customized Training, Inspections & Consulting, Regulatory assistance, and Certification services, our global team of food safety and quality professionals has grown to service more than 120 countries and is committed to helping food and beverage supply chain companies to apply the highest standards of integrity. The IAB inspection process is focused on the five following categories: Operational Methods and Personnel Practices, Maintenance for Food Safety, Cleaning Practices, Integrated Pest Management and Adequacy of Prerequisite Programs and Food Safety Programs. The warehousing, packaging, and fulfillment of packaged food products required focused attention to detail.  To maintain food safety and quality, it is important that manufacturers are adhering to the best practices in the industry. AIB certification is a recognized method of ensuring suppliers are committed to established protocols related to processing food products through onsite AIB inspection and certification. “Outreach began packaging meals in 2004 and has packaged over 600,000,000 meals through the dedication and hard work of thousands of volunteers and associated packaging organizations”, noted Floyd Hammer, Executive Chairman, and Co-Founder. “In 2010, Outreach led the industry in developing packaging protocols ensuring food packaged by volunteers met established food safety standards.  AIB accreditation is the continuation of the legacy of safe food production by volunteers or automation.”

The Outreach Program was founded by Floyd Hammer and Kathy Hamilton of Union Iowa.  A non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, Outreach has helped to package more than 600 million meals that have been distributed across the United States and around the world. Outreach meal packaging events are set up across the United States to engage businesses, religious and civic organizations, schools, and volunteers of all ages to package nutritious meals for the hungry. Co-Founders Floyd Hammer and Kathy Hamilton were invited to the White House by former Presidents Barack Obama and George H.W.Bush to be honored with the 5,000th Point of Light Award.  As a recipient of the top “Four Star” rating from Charity Navigator and GuideStar’s Exchange Seal for transparency, Outreach is committed to improving the lives of disadvantaged individuals.
