More than 5,000 AARP volunteers and employee’s packaged over 1.2 million Outreach Program Rice and Bean Casserole meals in Washington, DC on Friday, September 11 to help feed hungry seniors and veterans in the DC area.   Read more here . . .

Outreach Program Launches New Meal
Our new mealOutreach Program recently launched a new domestic meal in addition to our *Mac and Cheese and *Rice and Bean Casserole meals.

 

Our *Pasta with Italian Tomato Basil Sauce meal is both highly nutritious and tastes great!

 

You can choose to package this meal in addition to our other domestic meals when you host a meal packaging event.

Richard Hatfield,
 MS Ag Economics Cornell and Managing Partner of Natural Capital East Africa in Nanyuki, Kenya: Hatfield will provide an overview of the Savory intensified rotational grazing concept and system currently used on over 40 million acres around the globe.

Dr. Ellen Dierenfeld, PhD in Animal Nutrition, Cornell: Dierenfeld will present research data developed at the Shallom Farm in 2014 on the Sisal Project overview which was presented at the Hunger Summit in 2014.

Dr. Deborah Ann Turner, MD: Dr. Turner is collaborating with anthropologist, Dr. Betsy Richey, to implement USAID’s WEAI survey in the Mainga village just outside the border of Shallom Farm. This project has been funded by The Rotary Club of Des Moines and The International Foundation

Join over 600 leaders from across Iowa and the Midwest at the Ninth Annual Iowa Hunger Summit to celebrate Iowa’s contribution towards ensuring adequate food for all and increase statewide awareness of hunger, poverty and related issues.

Free and open to the public , come to the Iowa Hunger Summit to learn more about who the hungry in Iowa are, how hunger impacts human health and well being, and the extraordinary work that Iowans are doing to alleviate hunger both at home and abroad.
