At the Outreach Program, our mission to end hunger and empower communities has always been our focus. Our efforts wouldn’t be successful without the combined efforts of the countless volunteers and organizations we have partnered with over the years. The recognitions we’ve received are truly yours and we are blessed to have played a role in facilitating these efforts.
Porta-Doc Medical Program
Rural communities in Tanzania struggle to access many types of medical care, including preventative care, prenatal care, emergency care, and education on wellness and hygiene. Walking 20 miles to the nearest medical facility is not uncommon for many people in these outlying villages.
That’s why we’ve developed the Port-Doc, a mobile medical clinic, which provides services to villages in remote areas that have limited or no access to medical care. Our Porta-Doc a specially designed vehicle fully equipped with modular medical inserts is staffed with a qualified medical officer. These medical professionals provide in-the-field service to more than 800 patients each month, including routine medical exams, immunizations, prenatal care, and even minor surgeries.
The Porta-doc relies on donations from people just like you to continue providing care to rural communities in Tanzania. Your support means that when there is a need, like a tire going flat, or a patient needs medicine or transport, we can react quickly and continue our mission to serve.
Singida Referral Hospital
In addition to the Porta-Doc Medical Program, The Outreach Program helped to establish more extensive medical services at Singida Regional Hospital. Our support included medical missions trips, donation of equipment and supplies, and medical training.
Since 2005, The Outreach Program has lead 23 medical missions trips with more than 1,200 volunteers. On average, 60 major surgeries are performed during the course of each mission. Hundreds of other treatments too severe to be handled in the field were cared for by the mission doctors and nurses
Additionally, we have shipped ten 40-foot ocean containers of equipment to the referral hospital, ensuring that their teams will be able to provide high-quality medical care to as many people as possible.
