John Deere Packages 1 Million Meals in 16 Different Locations

For the second year in a row, John Deere employees and members from their communities across the United States are packaging one million OutreachOutreach-Program-10-16-14-John-Deere Mac & Cheese meals for their local food banks and pantries.

Bryan Coffey, Event Coordinator for Outreach was at the Cary, North Carolina plant and said, “The John Deere volunteer employees at this event were wonderful! Their spirits and voices were loud throughout the entire packaging process. Each station made it very clear when they would complete another box of meals by chanting “Box #1 – Box #2 – Box #3, Etc.” Overall, it was a great time!”

These are the sixteen different locations: John Deere Cary, Cary NC; John Deere Ottumwa Works, Ottumwa IA; John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group, Torrance CA; John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline IL; John Deere Dubuque Works, Dubuque IA; John Deere Financial, Johnston IA; Deere & Co. Corporate SWOB, Moline IL; Deere & Co. Corporate Headquarters, Moline IL; John Deere Olathe, Olathe KS; John Deere Waterloo Works, Power Systems, & Product Engineering Center, Waterloo IA; John Deere Financial, Madison WI; John Deere Turf Care, Fuquay-Varina NC; Augusta Commercial Products, Augusta GA; John Deere Horicon Works, Horicon WI; John Deere Seeding Group & Cylinder Internal Platform, Moline IL; and John Deere North American Parts Distribution Center, Milan IL.

An Outreach Meal Packaging Event is a great opportunity to engage employees in a team building exercise that matters.  Not only do they build camaraderie and even engage in bit of fun competition as they package, they also create the positive experience of helping hungry children in their own hometowns.
