Outreach Program Belle Plaine (IA) FFA Packages 20K Meals-1The FFA of Belle Plaine High School in Iowa, hosted a 20,000 meal packaging event at their school in celebration of National FFA Week. On February 27, over 225 students, faculty, and administrators donned hairnets and aprons then lined up around packaging lines to package meals to be distributed by the local food bank for families in Benton County.

FFA, which has over 600,000 members across the U.S., has the initiative ofFeeding the World-Starting at Home.  FFA has challenged their chapters to donate 2.5 million meals for the hungry. The FFA Hunger Heroes Challenge idea is based on See it! Solve it! Share it!

FFA Advisor, Josh Day had this to say, “After the event I was surprised at how many teachers and students talked of both how organized the event was and how positive experience it was for both students and staff.  Many of the students would have preferred to package longer.  Overall this was a great event and both Belle Plaine FFA and Belle Plaine CSD will look to work with Outreach again in the future.”Outreach Program Belle Plaine (IA) FFA Packages 20K Meals-2
